All About Tai Chi...

Tai Chi an ancient form of Martial Art that originated in China over 300 years ago. There are five styles of Tai Chi. Chen being the oldest, followed by Yang, Sun, Wu and Hao. In the last three decades, Tai Chi has found worldwide popularity, owing to its health benefits.  Each Style has its own forms of Tai Chi based on the number of sets of movements incorporated into each of them. 

Tai Chi is not limited by age or any other factor. All one needs are a comfortable pair of shoes and loose and comfortable clothing to practice Tai Chi. 

 Sun and Yang are the most popular Tai Chi forms that are being taught in the Central Valley. 

Styles of Tai Chi

Yang Style 

Yang Style of Tai Chi with its flowing, graceful movements, is by far the most popular of Tai Chi Styles. There are several forms of Tai Chi in this style. 

Yang 24 is the most popular, as it has a limited number of movements that can be easily memorized. 

Sun Style

Perhaps no one has popularized the Sun style of Tai Chi more than Dr. Paul Lam, of the Tai Chi for Health Institute. Dr. Lam has enhanced this style of Tai Chi by introducing 'Tai Chi for Arthritis 1 & 2,' 'Tai Chi for Diabetes,' 'Tai Chi for Energy,' 'Tai Chi for Health' to name a few sets of forms. 

Sun 73 is a little more complicated, while Yang 108 incorporates much more complexity.

Chen Style

The Chen style of Tai Chi is characterized by more complex and sudden abrupt movements incorporated into the form sets.
